Arrive by 11:00 AM at the Downtown Boat Launch to check in, set up your boat, and get inspected before the race.

The $50 Boat Race is all about creativity, ingenuity, and fun. Here's what you need to know:
$50 Budget
All materials must total under $50 fair market value. Think garage sale prices — reclaimed and repurposed materials are encouraged! Boats exceeding the $50 limit will be disqualified. No exceptions — the budget limit is part of the challenge!
One-Leg Race
The Lake Stevens Rowing Club tows boats out to the start. From there, wind power is the primary method back to shore. Paddles are for maneuvering only (judges may allow light paddling in low-wind conditions). No motors, rockets, or engines.
Stay Afloat
Your vessel must float for the entire race course. If it sinks, you're out — but we'll cheer you on from the dock!
Safety First
Coast Guard approved PFD (life jacket) must be worn at all times on the water. No exceptions.
Check-In & Inspection
Check-in and boat inspection begins 1 hour before race start (11:00 AM). Late arrivals may forfeit their entry. All team members must be registered and sign a waiver before launching.
Water Fights
Water fights are encouraged! Bring your squirt guns, water balloons, and buckets. This is half the fun.
Good Sportsmanship
Race officials' decisions are final. No intentional ramming or dangerous maneuvering. Good sportsmanship is expected — this is all about the fun!
Pre-register your boat and crew below. All participants must sign an entry form and Hold Harmless Agreement at check-in on race day.
Advance registration: $10 online. Day-of registration: $20 at the boat launch.
