The $50 Boat Race is all about creativity, ingenuity, and fun. Here's what you need to know:
$50 Budget
All materials must total under $50 fair market value. Think garage sale prices — reclaimed and repurposed materials are encouraged! Boats exceeding the $50 limit will be disqualified. No exceptions — the budget limit is part of the challenge!
Wind Power Only
No motors, rockets, or engines allowed. Sails, fans, and creative wind-catching contraptions are all fair game.
Paddles
Paddles are for non-race maneuvering only (docking, safety). Judges may allow limited paddling in light wind conditions.
Safety First
Coast Guard approved PFD (life jacket) must be worn at all times on the water. No exceptions.
Fair Play
No intentional ramming or dangerous maneuvering — you will be disqualified.
Good Conduct
Family-friendly conduct at all times. No profanity. Judges' decisions are final. Previous year's winning boat may not re-enter in subsequent races.
Pre-register your boat and crew below. All participants must sign an entry form and Hold Harmless Agreement at check-in on race day.
Advance registration: $10 online. Day-of registration: $20 at the boat launch.
